Must Have Baby Products

The world of baby products can be overwhelming and difficult to sort through. As we prepared for the birth of our daughter the idea of putting together a registry had always been something I looked forward to. But as I started the process and began researching items I wanted to add to our registry the amount of options and opinions on each item quickly became mind spinning.

Here is a list of items we found useful and made life with a baby much easier. I hope this list helps makes your decision process a little bit easier.

Aside from the obvious clothing and diapers here is a quick list of the items we found to be the most helpful.

ESSENTIAL BABY PRODUCTS:

  1. White Noise Machine- we used this noise machine. It has a couple different noise settings depending on what type of noise you prefer. It also is great to take on the go and has a really long battery life.

  2. Avent Bottle Warmer- this bottle warmer does an excellent job heating up breast milk and formula. The milk was always consistently heated throughout and did not create any hot spots. The time it took to heat up a bottle was pretty fast too. Also super easy to use when I was super tired in the middle of the night and had a crying baby to get to. It also will fit pretty much any bottle brand too.

  3. Chicco Bottles- I chose these bottles because they are glass on the inside and plastic on the outside. So they wont break if dropped (plastic exterior) and did not expose my daughter to plastic chemicals potentially (glass interior).

  4. Pacifiers- Some babies take to a pacifier, others don't. My daughter did. We used MAM pacifiers. MAM pacifiers are BPA-free and have a symmetrical shape so there is no "right side up". I also liked that the pacifier had opening around the outside to allow more airflow when the baby is using it.

  5. Car Seat- This should probably be at the top of the list. We used the UPPABABY Mesa Car seat. Needless to say, this car seat is a tank. We took it into an appointment with our pediatrician and she was so impressed by the support around the baby's head. This car seat also snapped right into our stroller frame so it was super simple for transitioning from the car to stroller.

  6. Stroller- This stroller is by far our biggest investment but has made our life so much easier. The fact that I can pop my daughter's car seat right into the frame made transitioning so easy. The warranty this company provides is also great. Read this blog post I wrote for a more in depth review of the UPPABABY VISTA V2 stroller.

  7. Diaper Bag- If you want your husband to be okay carrying the diaper bag- GET THIS ONE. Haha. But in all seriousness this diaper bag has tons of compartments for keeping everything organized and there is also an insulated pouch for taking bottles on the go.

  8. Bottle Brushes- These did the job and are not super expensive. They also have a smaller brush in the handle for cleaning the nipple part of the bottle.

  9. Babyletto Crib- This crib is a great deal. Not only does it look great but it also is made well too. Even better, it comes with a toddler rail for later use.

  10. Miku Baby Monitor- This monitor tracks our daughters breathing in real time (contact free). We also use our phones to monitor her instead of caring around a clunky monitor screen. The technology of this monitor is super advanced and definitely worth the investment.

  11. Pack and Play- We were gifted this item and it has been super helpful for when we are on the go and plan on spending a lot of time at a single location other than our home. We have taken this to hotels, relatives houses, and used it at home when I need to contain our daughter so I can take a shower.

  12. Travel Baby Monitor- This monitor has worked great for us when we travel with our daughter and when we go to a relatives house and she needs to take a nap while we are there. It is on a closed network so there is no need to connect to wifi every time you need to set it up. The price point on this monitor is great for the quality.

  13. Lovevery Playmat- This was my daughters favorite spot during her awake time probably until she was 6 months old. The learning opportunities are endless for babies with this playmat. It comes with a guide to help parents understand the areas their baby is developing depending on their age. It took the guess work out of what to do with my daughter once she was awake and fed. Highly recommend this company overall. We also subscribe to their play kits that come in the mail every couple months.

  14. Formula Dispenser- My daughter was breast fed and formula fed. This dispenser came in handy when we were on the go and need to whip up a quick bottle. Now that she is a little older I use it as a snack container for her cheerios.

  15. Stokke High Chair- This is a high chair that will grow with our daughter. Literally, it can hold up to 300 lbs. Haha. But in all seriousness, this high chair is ergonomically designed so our daughter is in the proper position when she is eating. Her legs are bent at a 90 degree angle and her feet are resting on the foot rest. It is also aesthetically pleasing and looks great in our home.

  16. Bibs- These bibs are not only super cute but super functional. All it takes is just a quick rinse after mealtime and they dry so fast too.

  17. Food Jars- I made my daughter's baby food purees when she was first transitioning to solids. I used these jars to store her food in the freezer. Then I would just pop one or two in the fridge to thaw overnight when she was running low. We still use them as she has gotten older for leftovers or keeping snacks fresh.

This list is not exhaustive, there are items I did not mention on this list that a baby definitely needs (clothes, diapers, wipes, burp clothes, creams, lotions, first aid items, etc). However, this list of items has been used by my family and we have found that these items were helpful with our daughter. I hope this list has helped you along your journey.
